Community Liaison Officer's Update
It has been a busy month for Stuart. One of the key events this month was the Community Safety Surgery, which saw collaborative attendance from a range of agencies including housing associations, Kent Police, Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) Community Protection Officers, Good Life Sorted, and new representatives from Greensands Surgery. Notably, the latter included a Social Prescriber and a Carers Group Supervisor, enhancing the multidisciplinary nature of the session.
There have been a number of requests for CCTV footage from both agency partners and local residents this month. These requests have related to incidents such as vehicle collisions, shop theft, and anti-social behaviour. All relevant footage has been reviewed and forwarded to the appropriate agencies for further investigation and action.
Joint working has also continued with MBC, including investigations into potential unlicensed dog breeding activities and other local concerns.
In addition, Stuart met with County Councillor Sarah Emberson to discuss a range of local issues and to explore possible solutions in collaboration with local partners.
A particularly positive development this month has been the funding, kindly provided by the Parish Council, for training on Child Exploitation and County Lines. This training was offered to both agency representatives and local residents who actively support vulnerable individuals within the parish.

Play Park at Days Green
We’re pleased to let you know that the park at Days Green has now reopened following some repair work.
The surface around the roundabout has been upgraded with a more durable (and colourful!) material.
The two damaged toddler swings have been removed for safety, but don’t worry – replacements are on their way and should be installed within the next couple of weeks.
The slides are still out of action for now and have been safely boarded up. As this is a costly piece of equipment (around £13,000), it is being dealt with through insurance, which will take a little longer. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we have more news.
Thank you for your patience while we work to improve the park and make it safe for all to use.

Headcorn's Neighbourhood Plan
We’re delighted to report that after years of hard work Headcorn’s Neighbourhood plan will be officially signed off this month. As it has already been approved by MBC’s Committee it merely needs to pass through their Full Council which is apparently formality and therefore the document already holds weight.

Freedom of Headcorn Award
This month we will be hosting the special ceremony to bestow the Freedom of Headcorn Awards to Lyn Selby and Tim Thomas. A report with photos of the occasion will be included in next month’s newsletter.

Highways Improvement Plan
This month we have our long-awaited meeting with the new team at KCC to review all of our issues relating to highways. These include (but are not limited to) speeding, yellow lines and road crossings. If you know of a highways matter that might need to be added to the list then please let the Clerks know.

Events Coming Up
Next month we will again be organising Headcorn’s annual Remembrance Sunday Service and Parade, which will be on Sunday 9th November. If you are able to volunteer on the day to help with traffic management that would be brilliant, please let us know.
Then later in November we will be helping to organise the Christmas Shopping event in the High Street. It was a great success last year and we hope to build on that. It will be held on Saturday 29th November.
