Community Liaison Officer's Update
Another busy month for Stuart... the Parish Council’s CCTV is proving extremely useful with regular requests for footage which is invaluable in identifying individuals and vehicles. Please continue to be vigilant of any issues and get in touch with Stuart of you need any guidance on reporting.
Last month’s Dementia Cafe at the Heart of Headcorn didn’t have the attendance we had hoped for. Please do spread the word to any carers who might benefit from this sociable and helpful support group.
Stuart is aware of increased reporting of rats in the village. Please do make sure you are careful with the disposal of food and litter. If you spot a problem with rats either get in touch with your housing association or contact MBC using this link:
There have been reports of fake £20 notes circulating locally. Attempts to use them are often for very low value items. This in addition to being vigilant for rogue traders and doorstep sales - please be confident that our new Village signage states clearly that doorstep sales are not welcome in this community and you do not have to open the door.
Finally, if you wish to repot any issues anonymously please remember you can use Crimestoppers. The phone number is 0800 555111

Natural Burial Ground
Our ambition of providing the community with a natural burial ground is being realised on a small parcel of land - formerly Redhill Stables - on Lenham Road which is in the planning process.
The planning application has been called in to the MBC Planning Committee therefore we will need to argue the case for it to ensure it is passed. Once approved HPC will take ownership of the land with an holistic, eco-friendly funeral director ready to take on the running of the site and all that this entails. Once the burial portion of the land is full and decommissioned then the site will be turned over to HPC as a natural wildlife park with any business infrastructure removed leaving just the parking and a shelter for people to come and reflect and be a part of nature with their lost loved ones. This will be financed by a fund set up to provide ongoing maintenance of the site.

Freedom of Headcorn Award
Last month Headcorn Parish Council arranged an historic event to honour two Headcorn VIPs. Lyn Selby and Tim Thomas were awarded the Freedom of Headcorn in recognition of their extraordinary contributions to our community. Lyn served on Headcorn Parish Council for 46 years and Tim for 36. This was in addition to numerous other voluntary commitments over the years. Lyn was also a school governor for 40 years and all this while raising a family and fostering 15 local teenagers. Tim was also a retained firefighter for 15 years, worked as a meteorologist, and has played an instrumental role in the acquisition and running of the Village Hall and Heart of Headcorn. Council Chairman James Thomas and the whole Parish Council team hosted a celebration of this event and you can watch a video of the highlights HERE.

Highways Improvement Plan
Last month we held our long-awaited meeting with the new team at KCC to review all of our issues relating to highways. There is now a process of review and further discussion about those issues and priorities. Once there is any decision taken on any matters we will report back to the community.

High Street Posts
Over the coming weeks the Parish Council will be replacing the black posts that are used to support the hanging baskets and Christmas lights. Many have begun to lean and one has been damaged beyond repair.

Events Coming Up
This month we will be helping to organise the Christmas Shopping event in the High Street. It was a great success last year and we hope to build on that. It will be held on Saturday 29th November. There will be musical entertainment , our tombola and the lights switch-on. Everything starts from 10am.
