Parish Council News
New Assistant Clerk
Headcorn Parish Council is delighted to welcome a new Assistant Parish Clerk, Jo Mitchell. Jo will work alongside Clerk Stefan and Assistant Clerk Susie to manage the increasing workload at the Parish Office. Jo is a resident of the Village and brings a range of valuable skills to complement those of the existing team. One early priority is to bring new impetus to the Council's social media feeds. So please look out for news and information through the social accounts.
Cost of Living Surgery
The Parish Council will be organising a Cost of Living Surgery at the Village Hall in the coming month. This will allow parishioners to find out more about money saving tips and energy saving advice. We will be alerting everyone through the social media accounts and on the HPC noticeboard as to when this will be.
Christmas Market
Keep a note in your diaries for the Headcorn Christmas Market which is scheduled for Saturday 3rd December. This event will be integrated with the successful Christmas Fair held at the Parish Church and extend onto Parsonage Meadow.
More details will be coming soon.
Moat Road Development
Many residents have received publicity about a prospective development off Moat Road, from Catesby Estates. This is in fact in the very early stages of preparing for a planning application. The Parish Council has already been involved in meetings with Catesby to highlight some of the known potential issues, including traffic, flooding and amenities such as schools. To find out more you can use the link below. You can email Catesby with comments and please copy the Parish Council in on your correspondence so that we can be informed of any new issues.

The Meadows Planning Enquiry
The Parish Council has recently been attending the Planning Inquiry for The Meadows gypsy and traveller site in Headcorn. MBC issued enforcement notices which have been appealed and countered with retrospective planning applications. Updates on the matter have been reported in the Kent Messenger and shared on the Headcorn Village Facebook page. There is now an adjournment for a site visit and the Inspector's consideration, with results expected some time after that. There has been much investment in time and money on this matter by all parties and there have been strong arguments made on both sides.
Remembrance Day Parade & Service
Our Remembrance Day Parade and Service will be held on Sunday 13th November. The parade will start from the station car park at 10.15am and the service starts at the War Memorial at 10.50am. There will be a two minute silence at 11am. Sadly no poppy drop this year due to aircraft maintenance. Thanks to a kind parishioner we have been loaned a PA system for the event.
Please remember the road closures in the vicinity, for about an hour from 10.30am.
Firework Night
If you are planning your own fireworks display please be courteous to your neighbours by letting them know. They might have pets or livestock and need to make provision for them.
If you are having a bonfire please check it for hedgehogs and other wildlife. If you click on the link here you will find more information:
