Neighbourhood Plan
There is still time to have your say in the Neighbourhood Plan Survey.
The Neighbourhood Plan is a valuable tool to allow us to shape development in the Parish, guiding everything from housing design to infrastructure to protecting the landscape. Without it the community would have less ability to control these matters and less access to funds to support them.
So, we now need your help. Please follow the link below to take the survey, view the document and see answers to key questions. The deadline for responses is 14th August. Thank you!
PROW Resurfacing
The surface of the public footpath (PROW) that connects Lenham Road to Grigg Lane has proven to suffer with the effects of excess water. The bound gravel tends to collect large puddles which immediately turn to mud. Then the surface becomes uneven as it is regularly broken up. Therefore the Parish Council has explored the options to resurface the path with asphalt. We're pleased to advise that this will be going ahead this month. We're even more pleased to advise that KCC agreed to fund 50% of the costs for this. As a result we should have a level path that is much easier for everyone in the community to easily navigate.
Community Warden Survey
As you might be aware KCC is reviewing its provision of Community Wardens. A consultation is in place which is intended to explore preferences from a number of - not ideal - scenarios. Whatever happens it looks like provision will be cut and we may end up with a single warden which is shared with other communities.
If you would like to comment on the consultation you can do that here:
Speak to your MP
The Parish Council has ensured that the wide array of pressing concerns from our community are passed on to our MP Helen Whately in order that she does everything she can to help resolve them. These include the Leeds Bypass, Operation Brock, flytipping and road repairs. Whatever concerns you, please share your concerns to your MP, they are here to attend to what matters to us. You can contact Helen by emailing her and you can find her contact details here:
Take a seat!
We will soon be installing a new Kings Coronation bench at Parsonage Meadow.
Sainsburys, do your bit
The Parish Council has written to Sainsburys to appeal to them to do more to help the community tackle persistent antisocial behaviour with items stolen from their store. We receive regular reports of children throwing eggs which is aimed at both properties and residents. The origin of the eggs seems to be Sainsburys and there are reports from witnesses that nothing appears to be done to halt the blatant shoplifting of eggs from the store.
Days Green Play Equipment
The playground at Day's Green is extremely popular and one item of play equipment - the roundabout - is plagued with regular faults. The Parish Council is now exploring replacing the roundabout with something new which might be more hardwearing.
